New Singles for C-ute & S/mileage
It was announced yesterday that C-ute will release their 11th single this coming 2010-01-06 – the first major Hello! Project release of the new year. It will also be the group’s first single as a 5 member group, I’m hoping it’s something a bit more enjoyable than everything they released in 2009! The single is titled SHOCK!
S/mileage will release their 3rd indies single entitled スキちゃん (Suki Chan) this month on 2009-11-23, the group will most likely make their major debut next year though as their indie singles are published on TNX it’s unclear if they’ll debut under Hello! Project or TNX – I’m hoping Hello! Project!

Umeda Erika graduated from C-ute last night at the final concert of their latest tour, this brings C-ute down to a five member line-up – the smallest major group in Hello! Project now.
Umeda Erika to Graduate from C-ute (09-10-25)
C-ute really isn’t having much luck this year! The oldest member of the group, Umeda Erika announced at the Osaka Hello! Project Summer concert today that she will graduate from the group on 2009-10-25 and hopes to become a fashion model. Umeda is my favorite member so I miss her all the best and I’m sad to see her go! She didn’t really get a chance to shine in C-ute though.

As I’m away from home right now I haven’t kept up with the happenings in J-Pop over the last few days and a few interesting things have went down!
It has been announced that C-ute member Arihara Kanna is leaving C-ute and Hello! Project after five months of absence due to bunions, one can’t help but feel that maybe the bunions weren’t the only reason for her absence.
It has also been announced that former Hello! Project soloist Goto Maki will release her debut mini-album with Avex on 2009-09-16!
Finnaly, TNX enka soloist Karen was recently challeneged offered the chance to be signed by major record label Victor should she be able to sell 1,000 copies of her debut single through street performances and lose 15kg in weight. She’s completed the sales part of her challenge and the single is pretty nice if you like enka!
New C-ute Single (2009-09-16)
It was announced today that C-ute will release their tenth major single this September 16th. I haven’t been overly impressed with what C-ute has released this year so far so I hope their 10th single will be more satisfying and also I wonder if Kanna will be back? As of yet the title has not been announced.

C-ute Best (1) (2009-08-12)
Online Music retalier YAMANO MUSIC has recently added a page for an upcoming C-ute best-of album featuring all of their singles from their indies right up until their upcoming single Shochuu Omimai Moshiagemasu. This is C-ute’s first best-of album and for some reason I feel it may have more selling power than Berryz Koubou’s best-of. I’m quite looking forward to the rerecorded indie singles, even if they are only versions without Murakami Megumi. It’s a quite a way off until this is released but I’ll look forward to it!

New Singles for AKB48 & C-ute (2009-06-24)
AKB48 are to release their 13th single on 2009-06-24 titled 涙サプライズ！, Namida Surprise. There is apparently some disatisfaction amongst AKB48 fans as to the members chosen to participate in this single, as I’m not too familiar with any members in particular I’ll have to wait and see what I think after a preview!
C-ute are also due to release a single on the same day titled 暑中お見舞い申し上げます, Shochuu Omimai Moshiagemasu. This is a cover of the song of the same name by 70s J-Pop group, Candies. Incidently SweetS also covered this song. I’m a little dubious as to how this will turn out as covers are often a little disapointing from Hello! Project – I wasn’t a particular fan of COVER YOU. It’s rumored Kanna will return in June so she may participate in this single.
If you remember, Kago Ai is also releasing her debut single on the same day as these two, we have a Kago VS C-ute VS AKB48 situation! While I’d like Kago to do the best I feel it may turn out this way; AKB48, C-ute, Kago. I can’t honestly see Kago charting too high though I’d like to be pleasntly surprised. I don’t imagine she’ll have great promotion as her label is a little unknown.
