I’ve stopped posting daily releases lately as I feel they’re sometimes a bit redundant but today we have a lot of big releases so I think it might be worthwhile giving them a mention!

The Hello! Project compilation album Pucchi Best 9 as well as all of the Mega Best albums were released today, the highest charting being Abe Natsumi’s at #15 in Oricon; it’s bound to fall substantially though considering the success of her latest single (more on that in the next post).

Pucchi Best 9 has charted at #22 today and like Nacchi’s album will most likely fall out of the Top 30 very soon.

All of the other albums have failed to chart within the Top 30.

On a more optimistic note Shugo-Chara Egg’s debut single Manna no Tamago has charted at #5 in the Oricon Daily Charts – quite impressive for a group of newbies. We’ll see how that does all week I guess, let’s hope for a Top Ten ranking at the end of the week. Although the single isn’t my cup of tea I’d be more than happy for any Hello! Project group to have some success right now!

Upcoming Releases (2009~)

Lots of interesting new releases have been announced today, all of which will be released in January / February 2009! I’ll list them in order of release and you’ll also find them on the release-schedule page.

2009-01-21

  • Matsuura Aya – Omoi Afurete (6th Album)

Who could have forseen this one? Most likely Matsuura’s final release with Hello! Project. Looking forward to this though I found Double Rainbow (her last album) a little boring.

2009-01-28

  • C-ute – 4akogare MY STAR (4th Album) (Limited with DVD)

Woah! More releases? This could be interesting, especially that the girls are getting a little older now.

2009-02-04

  • Kusumi Koharu – Happy Happy Sunday (6th Single) (Limited with DVD)

I’ll try not to judge too soon.

2009-02-11

  • Morning Musume – Naichau Kamo (38th Single) (Limited A+B with DVD)

The title means “I might cry,” sounds pretty promosing to me and I hope it’s similiar in sound to some of their more recently popular singles; Onna ni Sachi Are and Resonant Blue to name two.

Today’s Releases (2008-11-12)

  • C-ute – C-ute Concert Tour 2008 ~Wasuretakunai Natsu~ (Concert DVD)
  • Satoda Mai x Goda Kyodai – Mou Sugu Christmas (2nd Single)

I always enjoy it when two Hello! Project acts go head to head in Oricon and this week we have two pretty popular acts; Buono! and Satoda Mai. I was a little dubious as to how Mai’s 2nd single would do as her first sold under 2,000 copies. This time round though she a more popular supporting act as well a funner song, I wouldn’t necessarily say the song is better than her first though – just very different. Mou Sugu Christmas debuted at No.6 in the Oricon charts! Not too shabby at all!

Buono!’s 5th single, Rottara Rottara debuted two ahead at No.4, better than Berryz Koubou’s last single’s debut ranking. Good luck to both singles!

Berryz Koubou to Release Best Album (2009-01-14) [Update]

Berryz Koubou are set to release their first best album (not including Special! Best Mini ～2.5 Maime no Kare～) on 2009-01-14. As of yet the title is to be announced as is the tracklist. The limited edition will include a DVD.

As a side note you may have noticed I’ve stopped posting the releases/events for each day on the main page. This is because I no longer have time to do so, I’ll still update the individual pages though which you can check. I may occasionaly announce a release or an event if I think it’s particularly newsworthy or interesting.

[Update:] According to Shinseido the album will include “carefully selected tracks from all eighteen singles and six albums as well as one new song.”

This will be so far the first Hello! Project release of 2009!

Hello! Project 2006 Winter ~Zeninshuu Go!~ to be released…!

The Hello! Project concert DVD that was originally planned for early 2006 release but later canceled due to “technical issues,” is to rather strangely be released this December to Hello! Project fanclub members.

The DVD was cancelled most likely due to Kago Ai’s smoking scandal as the concert featured W heavily, so this release is a real treat for W fans as it allows them to see some footage of W that hasn’t been released yet, that is if they don’t heavily edit the concert which I truly hope doesn’t happen.

An exact date hasn’t been announced yet and as the DVD is only available to fanclub members it will probably be rather costly for non-members, especially outside of Japan, to get their hands on.

Mano Erina releases her second indies single today and I have to say it’s quite an improvement on the first. It has a much better beat and is almost a little dance-y while still incorporating piano, it’s a worthwhile purchase if you can get it, it’s only available online via e-online as far as I know. I wonder if she’ll make her major debut in 2009?

Ongaku Gatas also release an Event V for their 3rd single, will this event boost sales I wonder? I hope so, though Come Together hasn’t done too badly, I didn’t expect even 10,000 from it.

Lots of New Upcoming Releases!

Hello! Project seems to be bombarding us with a slew of upcoming releases, below is a list of all newly announced products. Take note of the MEGA Best albums, these are interesting and pretty cool but at the same time have little selling power I feel. I think I’ll perhaps pick up Pucchi Best 9, Country Musume MEGA Best and Taiyo to Ciscomoon (T&C Bomber) MEGA Best if I can afford it!
