The Elder Club Graduate
Nakazawa Passes Hello! Project on to Takahashi Ai
Last night was a very important night for Hello! Project as every member of the Elder Club graduated. I think it’s hard to think of Hello! Project without members such as Abe Natsumi, Nakazawa Yuko, Fujimoto Miki and Matsuura Aya coming to mind but I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing. Although I find this large scale graduation quite sad and I don’t think quite everyone needed to go, Tsuji Nozomi for instance, I think Hello! Project definitely needs a fresh start with it’s member base swelling to extraordinary numbers.
I think it was definitely time for some members to move on such as Yasuda Kei, Inaba Atsuko and Maeda Yuki – these three got very little actual work from Hello! Project and in the case of Maeda and arguably Inaba it’s unlikely most people actually know who they are – Inaba was in a group almost ten years ago under the Hello! Pro vanity label and Maeda sings enka, not exactly synonymous with what Hello! Project stands for. As for other members such as Nakazawa Yuko, they’re staying with Hello! Project any longer might just start to look desperate – they’re not selling really many copies other than what their dedicated fans buy and they are most certainly not promoted.
Furthermore, now that Hello! Project comrpises; Morning Musume,Berryz Koubou, C-ute, Mano Erina, Ice Creamusume and Hello! Pro Egg I would like to think more money will be spent on these endeavours. I think Ice Creamusume is going to be a mainly Taiwanese focus and the face of Hello! Project Taiwan.
I hope the ex-Elder Club members all find something that they want to do and I hope we don’t stop hearing releases from some of them; especially Fujimoto and Matsuura!
Let’s look forward to the new Hello! Project with Takahashi Ai as leader!
(The Elder Club don’t officially end activities with Hello! Project until March 31st but for arguments sake this is the last time they will all perform together like this)
