Berryz Koubou does Sakura Con 2011

Courtesy of Hello!Online PicboardYou read that right, folks!  Berryz Koubou will be making their North American debut at Sakura Con 2011!  As announced by Captain herself at the last concert of BK’s fall tour.  It took Morning Musume over ten years to make their debut in North America so it’s great to see that the girls in Berryz are getting their chance to shine.  Their last single didn’t wow me at all (compared to Maji Bomber which I love) but regardless, it’s really great news to know that they’re making their way to Seattle in April.  I wish H!P would come up to one of the major cons in Canada but I really think the chances of that happening are slim to none.  However, I’d be all over that if they did come up here.  I’d blow the entirety of my savings to go to that particular convention.  Regardless, if you’ve got the time and money to spare, head on down to Sakura Con at the end of April and support Hello!Project.

If they get enough support, I bet you anything that they’ll make every attempt to cross over into the North American music scene.  I’d love to hear some more H!P english tracks.  Who knows, we just might get a revival of Coconuts Musume!  It really makes me wonder what songs their gonna pic for the setlist.  Of course, the BK staple Special Generation will be performed (it’s a given even if it’s overated) but I’d love to see a medley of the Inazuma Eleven themes (with the exception of Shining Power.)  Berryz Koubou and most of Hello!Project can pull off the Pop Rock genre with relative ease.

    Excited yet?  I am! :D

    Slew of Digital Singles

Up Front seem to have finally discovered iTunes as a viable outlet for quick and easy music and have released quite a few digital singles by some of the Hello! Project girls recently. Unfortunately, they’re all covering the same songs and I do hope this isn’t the “Cover Series” that was announced earlier!

    So far the following have been released and they’re all available for purchase on iTunes;

Niigaki Risa – Seinaru Kane Ga Hibiku Yoru
Tanaka Reina – Seinaru Kane Ga Hibiku Yoru
Tsugunaga Momoko – Seinaru Kane Ga Hibiku Yoru
Yajima Maimi – Seinaru Kane Ga Hibiku Yoru
Suzuki Airi – Seinaru Kane Ga Hibiku Yoru
Okai Chisato – Manatsu no Kousen
Okai Chisato Egao ni Namida ~Thank You My Dear Friends~

Tsugunaga Momoko and Suzuki Airi both managed to chart on the iTunes official chart coming in at 185 and 190 respectively with their cover of Tanpopo’s Seinaru Kane ga Hibiku Yoru. I’m not really a fan of this song, despite it’s festive feel.

    Hello!Project News Roundup

    Hello! Project's logo

Seems like the release dates just keep on coming don’t they? Can anyone else hear their bank accounts wailing in agony yet?

Saki Shimizu of Berryz Koubou revealed on her blog today that she’ll be getting her first PB and Solo DVD in January. I know a lot of Berryz Koubou fans have been asking for a photobook of Captain for a long time and their finally getting their wish granted! I’ve never purchased a photobook myself because of the price but I definitely won’t complain about the great shots contained within these books!

Recent nominees for Best New Artist, S/mileage will be releasing their fourth — currently untitled — single on February 9th, 2011! I’ve quite enjoyed S/mileages releases and have enjoyed the fact that at least one group in Hello!Project has been getting some decent promotion. Now take a hint UFA and promote all of the groups in H!P equally. I can’t wait for their upcoming first album. The upcoming single will be released in five different versions.

Erina Mano will also be release her 9th single (also currently untitled) on January 26th, 2011. I hope that this new single will continue down the path of her recent single Genkimono de Ikou! as I believe that a rock/pop sound would be the perfect sound for her. I heard great improvement in her voice in this single so I’m excited to see how much she’s progressed since this last single was released.

Well Saki is the last of the remaining Hello Project Kids to get a PB and I really like S/mileage so it seemed like a good time. ^^

Manoeri… I keep waiting for her to really impress me.

Berryz Koubou new single and MELON’S NOT DEAD

On E-hon’s page after many days of checking, a new single for Berryz has shown up. It’s yet another double A side titled 友達は友達なんだ!/雄叫びボーイ WAO!(Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda! / Otakebi Boy WAO!). The release date for the single is on 2010-03-03 while the single V is out a week later on 2010-03-10.

It was also announced recently that Melon Kinenbi will be releasing a new album next year titled MELON’S NOT DEAD on 2010-02-17. A great title I must say and I wonder if they’ll keep the sound they had during their collaboration singles, which were all quite good in my opinion. Seems next year is going to be loaded with Hello! Project and related releases.

Berryz Koubou 21st Single – “Ryuusei Boy / Watashi no Mirai no Danna-Sama”

    Berryz+1

After what seems like quite a long time in Hello! Project terms, Berryz Koubou will release their 21st single which once again will be a Double-A sided single! The titles have been announced as 流星ボーイ / 私の未来のだんな様 (Ryuusei Boy; Falling Star Boy / Watashi no Mirai no Danna-Sama; My Future Husband).

From the titles it sounds as though the first might be a “cool” song while the second could be a ballad. Both songs will serve as the opening to the Inazuma Eleven 2 game and anime respectively.

The release date is 2009-10-28 for the Single and 2009-11-04 for the Single V!
