The official Hello! Project website has uploaded pictures of the new 9th generation members of Morning Musume.
*takes a looooong sip of peppermint tea*
I actually learned of Takahashi Ai’s graduation announcement this morning over while trolling aramatheydidnt on livejournal and if I am to be completely honest here, it’s about time that they did so.
Initially, I was surprised to learn of another graduation so soon but the time is right. Along with Gaki-san, Ai-chan has been one of the longest running members of Morning Musume and as such has had the second longest tenure as the leader of the group for 3 years and 7 months. Before this, the longest leader ever seen for the group was Iida at four years from 2001 to 2005. Her and Gaki have been in over half the singles for the group and are arguably the most noticeable and memorable members of Morning Musume as they joined the group during its peak. Ai herself is also one of a few members to release a solo song out with a Morning Musume album (Yume Kara Samete on Pucchi Best 7.
However, I’m not surprised by this announcement anymore. It’s time for Ai to move on to bigger and better things. Ai’s got so much going on for her. She’s the most talented singer the group has ever had, she’s a great actress and she’s just this amazing photogenic girl that I didn’t like that much in the beginning. I can’t deny however that she’s blossomed into the young woman that she should be since becoming the Leader of MoMusu. Let’s face it, Ai-chan had no personality in the beginning and was so terribly shy. Now, she’s so animated and bubbly!
But let’s face the music here. Ten years is a long time for any person in a group. It’s time for Ai-chan to move on from Morning Musume and Hello!Project. Through the countless singles, photobooks, dvds and stage plays, Ai-chan’s certainly got a lot to her credit but now, it’s time let her spread her wings and fly.
And that’s my two cents on her Graduation. I wish her nothing but the best and will be supporting my fellow Final Fantasy Geek until the very end.

It was announced today that Morning Musume leader and 5th generation member Takahashi Ai will graduate from Morning Musume this Autumn 2011.
I have mixed feelings about this, with the arrival of a new and very young generation, I can understand Takahashi’s decision to graduate from the group although I am concerned about the health of the group. Takahashi is undoubtably their strongest singer and having been a member since 2001, is one of the memorable members of the group.
No specific date has been announced just yet, I’m assuming we’ll have a Niigaki Risa leadership with Michishige Sayumi as her sub-leader upon Takahashi’s graduation. I feel this could be a very sad graduation, especially for Niigaki.

Today is the first day of Hello! Project’s winter tour and most certainly everyone was thinking about one thing, the announcement of Morning Musume’s 9th generation.
Before I get on to that, there was some speculation, as I mentioned earlier, as to former Hello! Pro Egg members Kikkawa Yuu and Sengoku Minami joining the 9th generation, as they graduated from Hello! Pro Egg very recently. Sengoku made no appearance while Kikkawa Yuu actually opened the concert with an original song called Sayonara Namida, a “support website” also opened for her, it seems she is likely to become Hello! Project’s newest soloist, or perhaps just a soloist with Up-Front? I hope Hello! Project though, she is 100,000 times better a singer than Mano Erina.
As for the ninth generation winners, the following hopefuls made it into the group;
- 生田 衣梨奈 (Ikuta Erina) 13 years old
- 鞘師 里保 (Sayashi Riho) 13 years old
- 鈴木 香音 (Suzuki Kanon) 12 years old
And coming as somewhat of a surprise, from Hello! Pro Egg;
- 譜久村 聖 (Fukumura Mizuki) 14 years old
Fukumura had been a member of Hello! Pro Egg since 2008 and was a second generation member of Shugo-Chara Egg.
